A location to make the everyday extraordinary

Welcome to our four holiday cottages which are located in southern Brittany, 20km west of Pontivy. Bot Coet itself is a peaceful, rural hamlet, consisting of around fourteen houses and three working farms (including our own). Surrounded by woods, farm land and quiet country lanes, the location of our cottages makes an ideal environment to escape from the pressures of work. The cottages offer home from home comforts and we pride ourselves on maintaining an extremely high standard. We look forward to welcoming you to our cottages at sometime in the future.

Where are the cottages?

Our cottages are 3km outside Guemene Sur Scorff and 4km outside Ploerdut. Whilst we are 20km west of Pontivy.

How can we be sure of the standard at the cottages?

Both Didier and I are very proud to have been accepted onto the website www.YourHolidayMatters.com a website that was set up by like minded Gite owners who wanted to be able to guarantee a good standard of accommodation to any potential clients. All the Gites on the website have been ‘vetted’ by a panel before being accepted (very nerve racking!) It isn’t a question of ‘buying’ advertising space, which makes it even more appealing.

What is included in the price?

All bed linen, towels, (not beach) gas and electricity. Logs are supplied for the woodburners if required.

Kitchen items included:-

Furniture polish, washing up liquid, cleaning product for bath/shower etc, clingfilm, foil, dishwasher tabs, tea-towels, kitchen paper, toilet rolls, bin liners, pegs, clothes horse, iron and ironing board.

Parking?

The car park has ample parking for 8 cars. All parking is ‘off road’ and no cars enter within the gardens or swimming pool area of the cottages.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO?

Games Room, Boule Court, Gardens, and Heated Swimming Pool.

In addition to the cottages own private gardens, there are further landscaped gardens to be enjoyed by all our guests. A fenced, 7 meters by 4 meters heated swimming pool is the focal point of the garden. It has a consistent depth of 1.2 meters with good access with steps descending into the water. Ample sun loungers for all our guests are provided. Here the gardens offer extensive views across open countryside.

Games room and garden

The Games Room stands completely separate and away from the cottages. A great place for the youngsters to meet. Here, you can enjoy table tennis, pool, table football or darts. Enjoyed as much by adults as the children, there has been many a competition played out this summer. Or how about a turn on the exercise bike, when perhaps one too many pain au chocolate have been eaten?

 Boule court

Boule court

The Boule court has been another invaluable addition to the garden. Once again enjoyed as much by adults as the children. The backdrop being over open farm land.

A further large lawned area with mini football and badminton is available for those moments of ‘letting off steam’!

LIVING IT UP IN BRITTANY

When you first arrive in Brittany, the things you will notice straight away are its tranquility and feeling of space. The open roads are a dead giveaway, miles of superbly surfaced roads and motorways, with very little traffic. When you start to visit its clean towns, villages and clean beaches, and see how quickly you will fall in love with this very special and peaceful part of France.

 Beaches

Beaches

Our holiday cottages are surrounded by beautiful woodland walks, open farmland and country lanes, which are ideally suited to cycling and walking. But sometimes when you would like to venture further afield, below we have a few suggestions of places to visit whilst staying in Brittany.

 Local countryside

Local countryside

The medieval town of Pontivy is about 20 minutes away. Situated on the banks of the river Blavet, the 15th century castle sits at the heart of the old town and contrasts with the newer part of the town which was designed by Napoleon. Pontivy has a wide range of shops and restaurants – in short it has something for everyone.

 Pontivy

Pontivy

The Lac De Guerledan is a large, clean freshwater lake, approx 25 mins away. There is a man made, sandy beach, making it ideal for families. Pedaloes, canoes, rowing boats and powerboats can all be hired. There are several restaurants, and cafes all overlooking the lake. Also very popular for anglers wishing for a quite afternoon watching a float.

Carnac means ‘the place of a pile of stones’ There are around 3,800 large stones all neatly arranged in rows at various sites. These Alignment stones are a sight to be seen whilst in Brittany. They are one of only a handful of sites that can be viewed clearly from space. As well as the stones, Carnac is a sea side resort with superb sandy beaches. Just down the road is the peninsula Quiberon, a wonderful location with lovely beaches and lots of interesting things to see and visit. There is also a Casino if you fancy a flutter at the tables.

 Carnac Beach at dusk

Guidel Beach, is a stunning sandy beach just west of Lorient an important fishing center with a thriving fish market. The beach itself stretches for several km, with lovely beaches and picturesque views it has everything from rock pools, to parts where it is safe to surf. Something literally for all the family.

"A fabulous, relaxing stay in the heart of the beautiful Brittany countryside!"

Great cottage with loads of space and character! All the cottages have good, private outside spaces, as well as a large communal area and very large gardens. There is so much space just to stroll around, or for the kids to run around in (which they did - lots!). The swimming pool is great and maintained daily. Again the kids loved it! Also, there's a volleyball/badminton net, football goal, boule court and of course a big games room. There was absolutely NO scope for boredom!
And of course there's the hosts - Kim and Didier - Superb!! They were so welcoming and friendly, and very, very attentive. They could not have done any more to make us feel at home. I've been back home a few days now and I'm really missing the place. I really hope we go back!!

"Another nice stay in Bot Coet"

Only 2 of us but only the largest of the cottages were available at the time Adel,so we rattled around a bit. It`s our 5th stay at Bot Coet since 2006 & Adel every bit as nice as Francoise & Alice which we have used before. Not a lot more I can say about the place I think it`s all been said before in other reviews. I would like to say though a big THANK YOU to Didier & Kim for help in a personal problem I had while we were away Thanks again Ken & Lynda Co Durham

"Comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting."

Having just moved house, we needed a relaxing week which we found in Adele Cottage. It really is a home from home. The gardens are beautifully maintained and we made good use of the swimming pool and games room. We found the information book in the gite highly informative about places to visit , along with local restaurants to eat at. Our thanks to Kim and Didier for being wonderful hosts. We will be returning again with the grandchildren.

"The perfect retreat for our family!"

Our extended family of 11 (including my 95 year old Grandad and my children ages 4 and 1) thoroughly enjoyed staying at Bot Coet Cottages. We (my husband, 2 children and my husband's parents) stayed in Alice, my parents and grandfather stayed in Adele and my brother-in-law and his wife stayed in Elsa. The cottages were exactly as advertised, with safety gates at the top of the stairs (ideal for our youngest!). Kim and Didier couldn't have been more helpful, they gave us our privacy as well as join in our fun when we invited them, it was a beautiful balance. And the games room and swimming pool really helped us relax and merge well as a group (it being the first time both mine and my husband's families got together for such an extended period of time). It was lovely. Guémené-sur-Scorff was charming and only 5 minutes away. Josselin was beautiful. Kim and Didier's recommendations were spot on and we can't wait to return and visit more places nearby! I will always remember Bot Coet as the place my little girl learnt to swim and my baby boy learnt the word 'Happy', perfectly apt for the feeling we had in the gorgeous Alice cottage and surroundings. The perfect base for sight seeing and relaxing
