A location to make the everyday extraordinary

Welcome to our holiday cottages which are located in beautiful Southern Brittany, 20km west of Pontivy. Bot Coet itself is a peaceful, rural hamlet, consisting of around fourteen houses, and three working farms. Surrounded by woodland, fields and quiet country lanes our cottages are in an ideal location to escape from the pressures of work and everyday life and to recharge the batteries. The cottages offer home from home comforts and we pride ourselves on maintaining an extremely high standard. We are the proud new owners of Bot Coet Cottages, but rest assured, Kim and Didier are guiding and helping us to ensure a smooth transition and to ensure your holiday is as perfect as possible. We look forward to welcoming you to our cottages.

Games room, boule court, gardens, and heated swimming pool

Each of the cottages has its own private garden, but we also have further landscaped gardens to be enjoyed by all our guests. A fenced, 7 meters by 4 meters heated swimming pool is the focal point of the garden. It has a consistent depth of 1.2 meters with good access with steps descending into the water. Ample sun loungers for all our guests are provided. Here the gardens offer extensive views across open countryside.

The games room stands separately, away from the cottages. A great place for the youngsters to meet. Here, you can enjoy table tennis, pool, table football or darts. Enjoyed as much by adults as the children, there has been many a competition played out in the summer. Or how about a turn on the exercise bike, when perhaps one too many pains au chocolat have been eaten?

To experience real French life, we also have a boule court in the garden. Once again enjoyed as much by adults as the children. The backdrop being over open fields.

We also have a large lawned area with mini football and badminton available for those moments of ‘letting off steam’! overlooking our open field.

Where are the cottages?

Our cottages are 3km outside Guemene Sur Scorff and 4km from Ploerdut, and we are 20km west of Pontivy.

What is included?

All bed linen, towels, (not beach) gas and electricity. Logs are supplied for the woodburners if required. Tea towels, pegs, clothes horse, iron and ironing board are also provided. Each cottage also has a charcoal barbeque.

All cottages have television, with English freeview available, or French TV if required, DVD player and a selection of DVDs.  We have numerous books, of all types for you to enjoy, and the normal family games and puzzles to while away the evenings.

Kitchen items include:-

All the basics to start you off – eg. washing up liquid, cleaning products for bath/shower etc, clingfilm, foil, dishwasher tabs, kitchen paper, toilet rolls, bin liners, initial charcoal for barbeque.

The car park has an ample car park area for 8 cars. All parking is ‘off road’ and no cars enter within the gardens or swimming pool area of the cottages.

When you first arrive in Brittany, you can’t fail to notice its tranquility and the feeling of space. We’re sure you will quickly fall in love with this very special and peaceful part of France.

Our holiday cottages are surrounded by beautiful woodland walks, open farmland and country lanes which are ideally suited to cycling and walking.  But the local area has so much to offer for all tastes – from water sports and bike hire, to beautiful historic buildings; from the peaceful canals and local rivers, to the bustling seaside; from tranquil rural villages, to lovely local towns with so many choices of cafes and restaurants,  and with the unspoilt islands off the coast just an easy day trip away.

If you want to venture further afield, here are just a few suggestions to explore while staying in Brittany.

St Nicolas des Eaux in early spring time – a perfect spot for a quiet drink or meal in the peaceful canal-side cafes and restaurants, a wander along the tow path, or to hire a canoe or kayak to paddle up the canal.

Auray (pictured in spring time) is one of many local beautiful towns to wander round and explore, with cafes and restaurants clustered around the lovely old port, so many art galleries, and peaceful cobbled streets.

The medieval town of Pontivy is about 20 minutes away. Situated on the banks of the river Blavet, the 15th century castle sits at the heart of the old town with its winding cobbled streets, and contrasts with the newer part of the town which was designed by Napoleon. Pontivy has a wide range of shops, cafés and restaurants – in short it has something for everyone. Beautiful walks along the canal, or hire a canoe or kayak (in summer) to explore from a different perspective.

The Lac De Guerledan is a large, freshwater lake, c30 mins away with sandy beaches dotted around, making it ideal for families. Pedaloes, canoes, rowing boats, stand up paddle and kayaks can also be hired. Fishing and water skiing are also popular activities. On land, there are many beautiful walks and cycle routes (bike hire available).

There are of course also many restaurants and cafes overlooking the lake, making the most of the stunning scenery.

If beaches are your thing, you’ll be spoiled for choice – Larmor Plage (pictured) is our nearest beach (c40 mins away), with cafes, bars, restaurants and of course the beach. Along the coast is Guidel Plage – a stunning sandy beach which stretches for miles. With lovely beaches, coves and picturesque views it has everything from rock pools, to parts where it is safe to surf. Something for all the family.

For those interested in history and culture there are again so many choices – from the beautiful Abbey de Bon Repos (pictured in autumn), to the castle at Josselin, living history at Poul Fetan and the Forge des Salles, and the many small towns and villages with historic buildings and churches.

Going back even earlier in time, the area is dotted with prehistoric sites, with numerous menhirs and dolmen and the world famous mysterious stone alignments (over 3,800 stones) at Carnac

Absolute perfection’

We have recently spent a lovely 10 days staying at Bot Coet Cottages - myself, husband, 14 year old daughter and 86 year old dad stayed in Adele, and it was perfect! Beautiful cottage, really homely and cosy, clean and comfortable with everything you can think of, and the surrounding countryside is just gorgeous - complete silence apart from the birds singing and bees buzzing. The new owners, Carolynn and Richard are lovely - friendly, welcoming, helpful and just the right balance of being around but leaving you be. And their dog, Evie, is a treasure - really friendly but also very well behaved. Richard is a fantastic chef and cooked us two delicious meals - highly recommended! There is enough to do on site to spend a good day too, a really well equipped games room, boules pitch, badminton and of course the pool. The gardens and seating areas dotted around are wonderful too. There is nothing I would change about Bot Coet, and we will be back.’ (April 2019)

‘Another wonderful three weeks in this lovely gite and fabulous area – and great weather! Thank you Richard and Carolynn for your hospitality, fabulous food and company. See you again soon hopefully!’ (July 2019)

‘Another lovely and peaceful stay in Elsa. Our 8th time at Bot Coet! The extended family had a great time at the cottages. Thank you for the warm welcome and good luck for the future’ (May 2019)

‘Thank you Carolynn and Richard. We have had a wonderful and relaxing stay here at Bot Coet. We arrived to an amazing dinner cooked by Richard, we have relaxed by the pool a lot! And we have enjoyed our trips out and and about. We leave here refreshed and that’s saying a lot with 2 young children in tow!!’ (June 2019)

‘Thanks to Richard and Carolynn for the warm, relaxed welcome. Thanks also for Richard’s home cooking – delicious. The girls loved the facilities, so happy kids make for a happy holiday! ‘(July 2019)

"A fabulous, relaxing stay in the heart of the beautiful Brittany countryside!"

Great cottage with loads of space and character! All the cottages have good, private outside spaces, as well as a large communal area and very large gardens. There is so much space just to stroll around, or for the kids to run around in (which they did - lots!). The swimming pool is great and maintained daily. Again the kids loved it! Also, there's a volleyball/badminton net, football goal, boule court and of course a big games room. There was absolutely NO scope for boredom!
And of course there's the hosts - Kim and Didier - Superb!! They were so welcoming and friendly, and very, very attentive. They could not have done any more to make us feel at home. I've been back home a few days now and I'm really missing the place. I really hope we go back!!

"Another nice stay in Bot Coet"

Only 2 of us but only the largest of the cottages were available at the time Adel,so we rattled around a bit. It`s our 5th stay at Bot Coet since 2006 & Adel every bit as nice as Francoise & Alice which we have used before. Not a lot more I can say about the place I think it`s all been said before in other reviews. I would like to say though a big THANK YOU to Didier & Kim for help in a personal problem I had while we were away Thanks again Ken & Lynda Co Durham

"Comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting."

Having just moved house, we needed a relaxing week which we found in Adele Cottage. It really is a home from home. The gardens are beautifully maintained and we made good use of the swimming pool and games room. We found the information book in the gite highly informative about places to visit , along with local restaurants to eat at. Our thanks to Kim and Didier for being wonderful hosts. We will be returning again with the grandchildren.

"The perfect retreat for our family!"

Our extended family of 11 (including my 95 year old Grandad and my children ages 4 and 1) thoroughly enjoyed staying at Bot Coet Cottages. We (my husband, 2 children and my husband's parents) stayed in Alice, my parents and grandfather stayed in Adele and my brother-in-law and his wife stayed in Elsa. The cottages were exactly as advertised, with safety gates at the top of the stairs (ideal for our youngest!). Kim and Didier couldn't have been more helpful, they gave us our privacy as well as join in our fun when we invited them, it was a beautiful balance. And the games room and swimming pool really helped us relax and merge well as a group (it being the first time both mine and my husband's families got together for such an extended period of time). It was lovely. Guémené-sur-Scorff was charming and only 5 minutes away. Josselin was beautiful. Kim and Didier's recommendations were spot on and we can't wait to return and visit more places nearby! I will always remember Bot Coet as the place my little girl learnt to swim and my baby boy learnt the word 'Happy', perfectly apt for the feeling we had in the gorgeous Alice cottage and surroundings. The perfect base for sight seeing and relaxing
